Dear all
The Stratum-1 service at RAL-LCG2, which serves both EGI and the WLCG communities is currently in a long down time (28th June to 14th August) while it is rebuilt with new hardware.
When the downtime was declared we removed RAL-LCG2 from the global config meaning any site relying on this would simply stop trying to access it and use Nikhef or CERN for EGI or the WLCG repositories respectively.
For sites that were explicitly configured to use RAL, the Stratum-1 alias was configured to return a 503 error when queried (on port 80 and 8000), which should make the failover rapid. We hoped that this would mean the absence of the RAL-LCG2 Stratum-1 would be transparent to sites/users.
It has been brought to our attention that there are multiple GGUS tickets (e.g. https://ggus.eu/index.php?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=167385) for failing jobs at sites that would appear to be caused by attempts to connect to RAL-LCG2 Stratum-1. If a GGUS ticket is created against your site on a similar issue, feel free to include lcg-support(a)gridpp.rl.ac.uk in the cc list and we will provide support if it is related to the RAL-LCG2 Stratum-1.

Our site, USC-LCG2, will be decommissioned by the end of June 2024. Following the EGI procedure a ticket, https://ggus.eu/index.php?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=166433, was created to track the process. To child tickets were also created to track the decommissioning of the two management nodes, CE: https://ggus.eu/index.php?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=166434 and site BDII: https://ggus.eu/index.php?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=166435
The timeline for the decommissioning will be as follows:
On June 24th the CE and BDII services will be put in downtime in GOCDB
On June 24th Job Submission will be blocked.
On June 28th the site and all its services will be removed from the monitoring pool
the services and the site will be removed from GOCDB once all of the services are no longer monitored.
Best Regards
Marcos Seco

Dear colleagues,
since the GGUS maintenance on May 29, the GGUS web service is running on EL9.
Today, it was reported that no user with a certificate from the Romanian CA
can access the service, while such certificates work OK for other services.
Unfortunately, the main expert will only be back on Monday, but we suspect
the problem is due to the absence of SHA-1 support on the web service host.
This matter then affects a number of other CAs as well, as explained here:
https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/LCG/EL9vsSHA1CAs
Hopefully this matter will be resolved on Monday!

As part of our work to upgrade the RAL-LCG2 Tier 1 site away from Red Hat 7 derived OSs, we are announcing that the GridFTP protocol (aka gsiftp) will be no longer be supported at our site from the 3rd of June 2024.
The services affected by this include FTS and all aspects of Echo.
Please inform us you are still interacting with either of these services in any way, including data access, deletions or fallback, and if you are, what your timeline is for switching to another protocol.
If you have any further questions or queries regarding this decommissioning process, please do not hesitate to contact the RAL Tier-1 Production Team.

Dear EGI site and VO admins,
The EGI Foundation and 4 EGI members* are involved in a new Horizon Europe project, called GreenDIGIT and started working on the lowering of the environmental impact of digital infrastructures. GreenDIGIT will benefit the EGI community, 3 other DIGIT infrastructures from ESFRI (SLICES, SoBigData, EBRAINS) and thematic ESFRIs with significant IT capacities.
GreenDIGIT will work with the EGI sites and with reference VOs on a landscape study, on green metrics, on improved energy management and workload management practices.
I'd like to invite you to a zoom meeting where we'll introduce the GreenDIGIT project and will discuss these collaborative activities. Please indicate your availability for this first collaboration meeting in the following doodle: https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/enGvEgWa
If your institute/VO has dedicated person(s) for green/environmental aspects of your data centre/applications, then please forward this invitation to them.

Hi all,
Apologies for bulk releasing a bunch of held messages- this must have
confused you!
This list is the default contact address of EISCAT VO managers for
messages from the EGI systems, so the list server must be set to accept
such messages (rather than the default which is to hold messages from
non-members). Hopefully I've managed to do so now.
Best regards,
