Description
The present era of rapid technological advances creates a challenge for data providers and scientists to create and maintain FAIR data and services not just for future operations but also for historical data gathered and analysed with technologies that are slowly phasing out of their usage. GUISDAP is an open-source software package, written in MATLAB, C and Fortran and provided and maintained by EISCAT, for analysis and visualisation of its incoherent scatter radar data as well as for some other radars in the world. One way how to preserve GUISDAP operability and accessibility by the user community is to make it accessible through a Jupyter notebook docker deployment through EISCAT resources and in the frame of an EOSC project. This will help to ensure the FAIRness of EISCAT data by providing tools for reanalysis and visualisation that will be accessible by any potential EISCAT user with the help of EGI check-in technology.
Target audience: e-Infrastructure platform /technology providers
Program:
-- 20 min presentation
-- 20 min demo
-- 20min Q&A
Speaker: Dr Maria Mihalikova, Staff scientist, EISCAT Science association
Dr. Maria Mihalikova is a staff scientist joining the EISCAT team at Headquarters in Kiruna. Maria comes from Slovakia and grew up in Ivanka pri Dunaji near Bratislava. She has a master’s degree in physics with a focus on meteorology and climatology from Comenius University in Bratislava and a PhD in Space Technology from the Luleå Technical University.
After working for a number of years as an aviation meteorologist at the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute, Maria started her doctoral studies in the Polar Atmospheric Research Program at IRF in Kiruna in 2009. In 2013 Maria got her Phd.

In particular, I would like to bring to your attention the Security Workshop on Friday (23/06) organized by CSIRT.
During this training session, several aspect of operational security will be explored, including the sharing of appropriate intelligence and the conceptual design of a Services Operations Centre (SOC) environment appropriate for cloud infrastructures.
Special rate are also offered for you to attend multiple training sessions.
How does it work?
- Take a look at the programme and define which trainings are of interest for you.
- Through the EGI2023 main registration page, select the suitable 'Single Training Day' ticket.
- In the question form, indicate what trainings you would like to attend. Two weeks before the conference starts you will be asked to confirm/change your selection in case you changed your mind, or anything interesting gets added to the programme.
I have my ticket, what now?
- Sit back and relax! Your trainer will reach out to you before the training about the programme and any useful additional information (prior knowledge, equipment to bring, ...).
- Make sure to indicate yourself as 'attending' in the Whova event app [4] - this is a quick way to receive updates from the organisers (for example if there is a room change).
We're looking forward to seeing you soon!

Description:
In this presentation, we will discuss the latest advancements in the Onedata platform, focusing on its new features for long-term data archiving and processing. We will demonstrate how the platform has been optimized to meet the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) standards, ensuring the reliable preservation and accessibility of archived information over time. Furthermore, we will explore the integration of Function as a Service (FaaS) capabilities in the platform, allowing for seamless and scalable data processing on demand. By combining the robust archiving capabilities of the OAIS standard with the flexibility of FaaS, the Onedata platform emerges as a powerful solution for organizations seeking efficient and reliable management of their long-term data storage and processing needs.

Dear VO Managers,
As already discussed, part of our infrastructure is going to change authentication and authorisation system, from X509 personal certificates to AAI tokens.
This month the HTCondorCE version that is deployed on several sites is reaching its end of life and we should start soon a migration campaign to a new HTCondorCE version that dropped the usage of X509 personal certificates in favour of AAI tokens.
This implies that in order to submit jobs to the sites providing a HTCondorCE you will not be able to use VOMS proxies any longer, but you need a token released by AAI Identity Proxies like EGI Check-in (https://docs.egi.eu/users/aai/check-in/obtaining-tokens/).
Besides the migration campaign of the sites, we are also going to clone the several VOs from their VOMS servers to EGI Check-in so the users can get the tokens with the VO entitlements they need.
The other CE technology deployed by other sites, the ARC-CE, will still support the VOMS-based authentication and authorisation for the time being (it can actually be configured to support both the methods).
While we aim to implement this change in a way that should be as smooth as possible, we appreciate that some VOs might not be ready yet to it so that we are also discussing with the HTCondorCE team a possible extension, for a few months, of the support of the old version in order to give more time to the VOs to prepare for the authentication switch; but this is not yet agreed.
We would like to ask you what is your status concerning this switch, either if you use central tools (like the EGI Workload Manager based on Dirac) to consume the CE resources or if you submit jobs through command line.
Please write to "operations egi.eu" and "ucst egi.eu" if you are ready to the change, how you interact with the CEs, if you need further time to be prepared for the new way to access the CEs, and what are the main issues you are facing to get ready for the switch.
Your feedback could be a valuable input for the discussion with the HTCondorCE team about a possible extension of the support of the VOMS-based authentication in the HTCondorCE product.
Best regards,
EGi Operations

Description:
The talk will introduce the Horovod distributed deep learning framework and the reference architecture and service(s) built for supporting it. The aim of the presented works is to enable the efficient utilization of cloud resources in the heavily resource-intensive task of distributed deep learning. The concept of reference architectures is also briefly presented, along with the experiences gained from their continuous development.
The target audience for this webinar includes e-Infrastructure platform and technology providers and those researching or applying (distributed) deep learning at any level. Demos will be presented.
Speaker: Krisztián Póra, Software Engineer, SZTAKI, Hungary
Krisztián Póra received his BSc degree in Computer Engineering in 2021. His Bachelor's thesis was concerned with the automatic testing of a reference architecture supporting deep learning. His work at SZTAKI (the Institute for Computer Science and Control) is mainly focused on research and application of the distributed deep learning methodology and the development of various reference architectures supporting the swift deployment of digital research infrastructures.
Please forward this to anyone who may be interested!
Looking forward to seeing you in the webinar!

Dear all,
As of 16:00 UTC, the network failure that caused the loss of the databases services at RAL has been resolved, although we are currently running in a non-resilient manner. We will be running at risk over night.
The GOCDB is back in full production (i.e. both writes and reads).
The RAL Tier-1 Disk storage (Echo) and Tape storage (Antares) are back in production. The batch farm will be brought back online tomorrow morning. Further downtimes will be noted in the GOCDB (rather than more announcements).
Thank you for your patience

Dear all,
The site downtime at RAL caused by the core network failure is still ongoing. We are working on recovering the databases currently.
As mentioned in the previous update, the GOCDB is working (at risk) in read-only mode: https://goc.egi.eu/
Echo (Disk storage) is functioning but in a degraded state.
Antares (Tape storage) is currently down however we can bring the service back quickly once the network has stabilized.
We are expecting the batch farm to remain down until tomorrow morning.
We will provide an update by 14:00 UTC and hope to be in a position to announce the return of some production services before the end of the day.
Thanks,
Alastair
