Dear EISCAT and E3D community,
I am Takanori Nishiyama, National Institute of Polar Research, Japan.
I hope this email finds you well.
Let me share information of ISAR-8, which is an international symposium for arctic
researches hosted by my institute (NIPR), and it will be held in person from October 28 to
October 31, 2025 at Tokyo Tama Mirai Messe close to NIPR.
More details can be found at
https://isar-8.net/
One of regular sessions, R7 Geospace, is now calling for abstracts related to studies on
middle-atmosphere, upper-atmosphere, ionosphere, and magnetosphere in arctic regions based
on various techniques including remote-sensing, in-situ measurements, and numerical
simulations. Of course, we also welcome abstracts on EISCAT and EISCAT_3D.
We have two invited speakers for the session as follows:
Prof. Wojciech J. Miloch in UiO and Prof. Jörg Gumbel in Stockholm University
I understand that it is a busy time for classes in October, plus there is European Space
Weather Week in the same week as ISAR-8, but I am very happy if you and/or your
colleagues, as well as students, consider possibilities to submit to R7 session and join
ISAR-8 on site. The important thing to remember is that this is the most pleasant time of
year in Japan, and it is the perfect time to go trekking in the mountains around Tokyo.
The abstract submission and registration for ISAR-8 are already open.
https://isar-8.net/call-for-abstracts/
Abstract submission is due on May 19, 2025, and registration is open until September 8,
2025. Please note that an early-bird fee will be applied for registrations completed by
May 19, 2025. Early-bird registration fee is free for early career scientists including
Ph.D students.

If you have any questions, please fell free to ask me.
I would appreciate so much for your kind considerations.
I look forward meeting you in Japan.
Sincerely,
Takuo Tsuda, Satoshi Kurita, and Takanori Nishiyama
on behalf of conveners of session R7 Geospace, ISAR-8
