*PITHIA-NRF Trans-National Access (TNA) 1^st Call*
PITHIA-NRF (Plasmasphere Ionosphere Thermosphere Integrated Research
Environment and Access services: a Network of Research Facilities)
invites applications for access to a variety of research facilities for
studies and modelling of physical processes acting in the Earth’s upper
atmosphere, with support from experts within the field. There are twelve
nodes within PITHIA-NRF all dedicated to investigating the plasmasphere,
ionosphere and/or thermosphere.
The access can be *physical access* (one-week visit with travel and
accommodation included) or *remote access* (one-month remote access with
weekly support). The available services or resources are limited, and a
competitive process is required following a defined procedure and
criteria for the selection of users.
*Project opportunities:*
Information of project opportunities and description of the nodes are
available at https://pithia-nrf.eu/tna/tna-calls/fisrt-tna-call
<https://pithia-nrf.eu/tna/tna-calls/fisrt-tna-call>. We encourage any
potential applicants to discuss with the relevant node about the project
before submitting their proposals. The TNA Support Centre
(tna(a)pithia-nrf.eu <mailto:tna@pithia-nrf.eu>) at PITHIA-NRF can help
establishing contact points with the nodes.
*When?*
The call is open from *15 July 2021* until the deadline *30 September
2021*. The application can be submitted at any time between these dates.
*Who?*
Access is provided for science projects to users from Academia, Small
and Medium Enterprises, Industry, and Public Organisations.
*How?*
The application should be filled in and submitted using the online form
(https://pithia-nrf.eu/forms/tna-application-form
<https://pithia-nrf.eu/forms/tna-application-form>). After submission,
eligibility and feasibility checks will be performed followed by the
scientific evaluation. Follow the instructions at
https://pithia-nrf.eu/tna/tna-calls <https://pithia-nrf.eu/tna/tna-calls>.

resulting data-products. For this position, the candidate will also take
an important role in the recently started European Union Framework
H2020-funded project PITHIA-NRF. This project relates to integrating and
opening access to research infrastructures of European interest. Tasks
relate to outreach and supporting users coming to the facilities to
perform campaigns within the Transnational Access (TNA) part of the project.
The work includes both travel between the EISCAT sites and international
travel to interact with EISCAT’s user community. The Staff Scientist
will also have the opportunity to perform some personal research.
Applicants should have completed a relevant recent Ph.D. in Geospace or
atmospheric science. They must also have some experience in advanced
scientific computing, and knowledge of radar technology and analysis is
an advantage. An ability to communicate effectively in spoken and
written English is essential.
Contact and application
For further details about the position, please contact Ingemar
Häggström, at EISCAT.

Dear friend of EISCAT,
You may know that EISCAT is taking part in ENVRI (the community of
environmental research infrastructures). Soon they are launching a user
story competition with monetary prizes! See their announcement:
-
ENVRI user story competition
Have you used one of the services offered by our research
infrastructures? Then hear this. ENVRI, the community of environmental
research infrastructures, organizes a user story competition.
Participate and you can win up to 3000 EUR support for your research.
How to enter:
1. Turn your Research Infrastructure services user story into a video.
2. Post the video on YouTube.
3. Send us the link through the submission form by 31 August 2021 at
11:59 CEST
The video entry might take almost any form. A story told through an
analogy? An animated cartoon? A Lego movie? A video incorporating your
own original music or dance? An interview with contestant’s friends or
colleagues? Some other format? You can decide.
The competition will be launched on May 17th, 2021 at
www.envri.eu/competition
Contact the competition organizers (icos-comms(a)icos-ri.eu) for more
information about the competition.

Hello,
As mentioned in today's meeting I have migrated the EISCAT user list to a more
modern SW platform. I have only added the people who were registered in the
old system
If you would like to unsubscribe or if you know of someone who would like to
subscribe, you or they can do so at this link:
https://lists.eiscat.se/ click on Eiscat-user
This list is still moderated by Ingemar and Anders. Hopefully we will have
something Slack-like for interactive discussion soon
