Dear colleagues,
Scientific software environments are increasingly complex — different versions, incompatible dependencies, installation issues, and challenges in reproducing results across platforms and collaborators. Many of you have told us that you are looking for practical, real examples of how EGI services can support reproducible, containerised, scalable analysis.
Next week’s webinar offers exactly that.
Although the case study comes from neuroimaging, the methods, workflows, and EGI integration approach are relevant far beyond this field. If you work with containers, data-intensive workflows, or reproducibility challenges, this session will provide a model you can adapt to your own domain.
Webinar — Neurodesk: Enabling Reproducible Research with EGI Services
Wednesday 26 November, 17:00–18:00 CET
Speaker: Prof Steffen Bollmann, University of Queensland, U.S.
You will learn:
--How to build and use fully reproducible analysis environments
--How Neurodesk integrates with EGI cloud and storage services
--How this approach can be replicated for other scientific communities
--Practical insights into supporting large, complex software stacks
--A template for container-based workflows that reduce maintenance effort
This session is valuable not only for neuroscientists, but also for developers, research engineers, and service providers looking to improve software portability and reproducibility.

We look forward to seeing you next week!
Warm regards,
Yin

Dear users of EGI Applications Database (AppDB) service,
This message is to inform about the reorganisation of the service and provide some timeline.
1). EGI Applications Database Cloud Marketplace will be replaced by the EGI Artefact Registry service [1]. The AppDB Information System will be replaced by a streamlined cloud-info-api service [2]
2). AppDB Software Marketplace will be decommissioned. Software packages and repositories will be no longer available after the shutdown date
3). Service endpoints related to AppDB (appdb.egi.eu and vmcaster.appdb.egi.eu) will enter downtimes on Fri 19 Sep 2025 and be stopped on Friday 17 Oct 2025.
EGI will continue to deliver ready-to-use VM images at the Artefact Registry and sync those to the cloud providers of the federation, please check the documentation for more information [3].
If you want to provide custom images for your VO, request a new project in the Artefact Registry [4].
Please contact operations [at] egi.eu if you need more clarifications.

Dear EGI Community
Unfortunately, the dependent infrastructure issues affecting the CVMFS Stratum-0 (egi.eu) at RAL are still in effect. The remediation attempts are still in progress however they are progressing positively. Regrettably at this time we continue to operate in a downtime, meaning no data can be uploaded to the uploader Stratum-0 host until Tuesday 15/07/2025 at the earliest. Downtime for this service will be extended and further updates will follow,
Thanks for your time and understanding.

Due to network issues with the SCD Cloud network, the Stratum-0 is currently unavailable at RAL and is in an unscheduled down-time (currently due to end at 07-Jul-25 15:30:00).
Should the issue with the network be resolved before the expiry of the DT, we will send another broadcast to inform users of this.
Details of this DT can be found at https://goc.egi.eu/portal/index.php?Page_Type=Downtime&id=36853

Following up on our earlier update about the network issues at the RAL Site, we are still seeing intermittent outages affecting the site core.
This is also having a knock-on effect on some department-specific networks. As a result, the @risk period will be extended until Monday 9th June for any services hosted at the RAL Site.
As a result of localised network issues, we are also declaring an outage to the CVMFS EGI Stratum-0 service until localised network issues have been remedied.
Should you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the RAL Tier-1 Production Team.

Further to our @risk notification (https://goc.egi.eu/portal/index.php?Page_Type=Downtime&id=36745) our Digital Infrastructure team have identified an issue with the site core networking equipment and are working with vendors to remediate the issue.
We have been given an extended period of at risk that could cover the next week depending on investigation outcomes. Once we know more, we will update the community accordingly.
